Anneville is located in the heart of San Diego's thriving Liberty Station Arts District. Every month, the NTC Foundation hosts a bustling open studio event with nearly 100 participants including restaurants, galleries, museums, wine bars, art studios, nonprofits and even a brewery. These events often feature live music or concerts, interactive art activations, dance performances, exhibitions and sometimes even ice skating. With free parking and so much to do, it is common to see hundreds of visitors - many of whom stroll through our barracks and visit our studio.
Promote your classes Being on-hand for visitor interactions is a great way to meet new students and spread the word about your teaching. Set up a display and talk about your upcoming class, put out business cards and brochures, show hands-on samples of what students will create or even host a promo raffle to draw people in. You’re also welcome to do live demos at 6, 7 and 8pm. Demos are typically about 15 minutes long and are a great way to engage visitors and drive sales. Raffles are very popular and also a great way to increase foot traffic. Raffles usually offer a free (one ticket per person) or $1 or $5/ticket. We're available to help as much as needed.
Sell your work and/or supplies Offer your finished jewelry metal arts pieces along with cabochons, metals, specialty tools or related items. We give you the choice of a profit sharing flat rate of $100 or a 10% commission - choose whichever is in your favor at the end of the evening. We've had some great results too, one of our artists made over $2000 in sales at a First Friday while the second artist cleared about $1000 (but know that we've also had times with no sales at all).
As the artist you are responsible for: Setting up at 4:30pm, processing your sales and answering customer questions, breaking down at 8:30pm. The event concludes at 9pm and we like to depart fairly soon thereafter.
What we provide: Advance and day-of marketing promos to our mailing list (500+ subscribers), Facebook & Instagram feeds and Liberty Station online listing. Day-of signage and a well-lit, dedicated display area along with a helper to provide breaks and help keep an eye on things.
Cancellations: Appearing at our open studio events has become popular and we often have a waiting list. If you have been selected to appear, please carefully evaluate your schedule for any potential date conflicts and consider it to be a priority. If you must cancel due to illness or other unforeseeable events we ask that you notify us as soon as possible so that we can schedule another artist.
Our goal with this program is to build community and deliver an evening of engagement that has strong promotional value and sales. Let us know what you're interested in and we'll follow up about the details. Thank you!
