Mokume Gane Metalwork
Mokume Gane Metalwork
I am inspired by the layers of time and history reflected in the landscape. As I pattern the metal, my tools are imitating the geologic processes of our earth. My chisel is the river, carving through the rock. My hammer is metamorphosis, compressing and deforming. This process is to me a meditation, and my humble imitations of nature are my way of paying tribute. Working in this medium connects me to thousands of generations of metalsmiths before me, working by hand with the very same tools and techniques we still use today.
