Our first Jewelry metal arts outing of 2020 will be to Pala Valley on a quest for tourmailines and other gems with intrepid silversmith and lapidary artist Jules Monroe! We're heading out on Saturday February 29, 2020. There's no cost to join the Anneville Jewelry Club but you'll want to bring some lunch money and $75 per person to pay the mine folks. Get details and sign up! Join us for a day of do-it-yourself mining! We’ll visit a mine in the Pala Valley region of northern San Diego County that offers the excitement of digging through newly-unearthed tailings. Members who have visited before will provide guidance and the best part is that you keep the tourmalines, kunzites, morganites (and more) that you find! Choose from a half day (2 hrs) or full day (4 hrs) option (same price) with a no-host nearby group lunch afterwards. Schedule: 9:15 am: Depart from Anneville Jewelry Lab with Anne and Ame’s carpool/caravan. 9:45 am: Depart from North County (meet in Solana Beach*) with Jules’ carpool/caravan. 10:30 am: Arrive & pay (be there by no later than 10:30am - late arrivals are not permitted). 11:00am: Start digging! 1:00 pm: Half Day folks: Head to lunch and then home. Full Day folks: keep digging! 3:00pm: Mine closes. Head to late lunch and home. Details: bring sun gear and rain gear including shoes that can get muddy (this is a rain or shine event!) along with rubber/work gloves and a container for specimens. Due to the muddy nature of the work, you might consider a change of clothes. The mine has restrooms and shaded picnic tables. *North County folks meet at the Home Goods 961 Lomas Santa Fe Dr, Solana Beach, CA 92075 to carpool/caravan. Anneville Outing Sign Up
