When Leslie at the San Diego Blood Bank contacted us to see if we could host the Blood Mobile on short notice I didn't hesitate to say yes spring into action - especially since it was for a Mother's Day! Within a few days we had flyers up around Liberty Station and posts out on our social media. The day dawned sunny and warm and we had our first donors before the doors were even open. By the end of the day, the fast and friendly Blood Mobile crew had processed 14 donors (5 more than last time) and our second blood drive this year was an even bigger success than the first one. Our own Lab Coordinator Ame Stanko was one of them and she's now a member of the 3 Gallon Club! Here's the sweet note we got from the Blood Bank afterwards: "Thank you Ame so much for hosting last minute. We had a great day because of your efforts! We collected 14 pints saving 42 lives in our community. You made all the difference.Again thank you for your partnership, we wouldn’t be able to provide for our hospitals and patients without it." ~ Leslie Eagan, San Diego Blood Bank Thanks to everyone who let us put up flyers and helped us spread the word and thanks especially to all of our wonderful donors and for the life-saving work the San Diego Blood Bank does for all of us every day.
