Something kind of amazing happened at our First Friday open studio. Amidst all of the scary Covid19 news, we had a great turnout with 30-40 people stopping by, excited to see what all the hammering was about. All of the "flupocalypse" worries faded away as students warmly greeted each other and we all watched Alix’s mesmerizing hammering. The Lab is often a place where the concerns of the outside world seem to just take a pause. Maybe it was the quiet competence of Alix’s metal work, or the conviviality of the sangria and cookies, I don’t know but many people who came in just plunked down their things and sat awhile, enjoying themselves. 4 hours flew by and I was sad to see it end. To Alix and all of our great students and friends who stopped by - thank you! And to my mailing list signs ups - I’ll get those new classes posted asap.
